On April 4th at approximately 9am, a line of cars stopped at the Park Ave/Main Street light backed up to just beyond the RR track, a dangerous situation. The DOT made some safety adjustments a couple of months ago—lowering the train speed from 10mph to 5, having the signal lights on the RR track start flashing earlier, and extending the time of the green light for Park Avenue traffic at the Park Avenue/Main Street intersection.
In order to make any further adjustments, the DOT needs to know if there are other days/times when traffic backs up as it did on Friday. If you have noticed traffic headed to the Park Ave/Main St intersection backed up to the RR tracks please let us know so we can pass the information on to the DOT to make signal light changes to insure the safety of drivers and passengers. Call 637-5300 x.116 and leave a message including date and time of back-up.
