Foodlink Pop up food giveaway this Tuesday April 15th!

Are you excited!!!!

This Tuesday we will be having our food giveaway. Weather is looking a little chilly but definitely doable! Please dress in layers in case it gets colder or warmer.

If you are planning to volunteer please email, text or Facebook message me letting me know you will be there. I need your first and last name, phone number, and email address. Thank you.

Mark and I will be getting there about 1pm to begin setting up and registering people.  Please let me know if you are willing and able to help with that task.

If you are interested in volunteering for the actual food distribution then you can get there any time between 2 and 215. There will be a little bit of instruction and the truck pulls in at 230p and that’s when all the fun begins. We need to get the truck unloaded and stationed before 3pm when the distribution begins. This will run until about 430 or 5 pm includes minor clean up.

General info: People picking up food start lining up at 10am. There are usually about 150 cars representing 250 families. This continues to increase.

Volunteers register them on iPads (supplied by Foodlink) and then the people picking up food drive between two long sets of tables with different foods that volunteers have unloaded from a truck.

Volunteers are stationed at all the tables and as the cars pull up, they put the food in the trunks or back seats of the cars. People picking up food do not get out of their cars.

The cars stop at each table and then drive away.

It usually takes a little over an hour to get through all the cars and then

There’s a small amount of clean up.

The pull up is located on Owens Road in front of Lineage.

Generally, about 20-25 volunteers are needed monthly. With 150 people waiting in line for 5 hours for food it is imperative that if one wishes to volunteer (thank you so much) that they commit to show up.

If you have any other questions, please call or text me.

Thank you very much.
